WHAT THEY ARE:
Super 8 film refers to a type of motion picture film format that was introduced by Eastman Kodak in 1965 as an improvement over the earlier Standard 8mm film format. THESE VIDEOS ARE RECORDED ON CAMERAS DATING BACK TO THE 1960’S AND SHOT ON REAL SUPER 8 FILM. THE FILM IS THEN PROCESSED AT A LAB, AND SCANNED INTO A DIGITAL FILE!
BENEFITS OF SUPER 8 FILM:
Nostalgic Aesthetic: Super 8 film has a distinct nostalgic and vintage look. It's characterized by its grainy texture, color rendition, and unique visual quality.
Analog Appeal: Super 8 film is a vintage format and allows for a hands-on, analog filmmaking experience, which is the perfect format for documenting special occasions.
Cinematic Look: The unique qualities of Super 8 film, such as its grain structure and color reproduction, can create a distinct cinematic atmosphere that digital formats often try to emulate.

Affordability: There is an upfront cost associated with shooting film due to the cost of film, processing, and scanning, but because much of the work with this format is done during shooting, the videos are much more simple to edit than digital videos, making super 8 MUCH more affordable than traditional wedding videos.
LIMITATIONS OF SUPER 8 FILM:
Sound: These videos DO NOT RECORD SOUND— they are silent films.
NOISY Recording: Super 8 cameras make a distinct, SOMEWHAT loud clicking sound when recording AS THE FILM ADVANCES INSIDE THE CAMERA. It’s charming but can be a little distracting at quiet moments, such as during a wedding ceremony.
NO Immediate Digital Redundancies: WITH EITHER DIGITAL OR ANALOG FORMATS, THERE IS ALWAYS THE SMALL POSSIBILITY OF LOST FOOTAGE. with all the distance film travels, the hands and chemicals and scanners film goes through, It’s part of the risk and reward of film! (But doesn’t all that extra hands-on work required and ways it can go wrong make it that much more special?)

Silent film shot on vintage Super 8 video cameras.
4K+ RESOLUTION VIDEO
After the film is recorded, it is sent away for developing and processing. The footage is then scanned into a digital file at least 4k resolution AND UPLOADED TO YOUR PRIVATE, PERSONAL PHOTO GALLERY.
EDITED HIGHLIGHT REEL
Super 8 footage will be edited into a highlight reel set to music, available via digital download THROUGH YOUR PERSONAL PHOTO GALLERY. All good, usable footage will be included in the reel. (5-6 MINUTES FOR WEDDINGS, 2-3 minutes FOR PORTRAIT SESSIONS).
30 SECOND TEASER TRAILER
I will select about 30 seconds of highlight footage for a shorter teaser trailer set to music (great for sharing on social media!).
PHYSICAL REELS
After you receive your edited videos via your gallery, I will mail the processed film reels to you as a keepsake. These are real working reels that can be played through a vintage Super 8 projector (if you happen to have one lying around). Otherwise, they are just fun to have!
