BLOXHAM FAMILY // AT HOME FAMILY SESSION

BLOXHAM FAMILY // AT HOME FAMILY SESSION

the time i spent in their cute little home seriously warmed my soul. the trust and vulnerability that goes into inviting someone (especially someone you don’t know, though i have photographed them before) into your home is not lost on me. it is a huge honor and every time i am invited into a home with my camera, my heart grows about 3 sizes, a la The Grinch.

LINDSEY, JAMES, + ADDY // SALT LAKE CITY

are you guys ready to see one of my favorite families in action?? i shot addy's birth story, and then her newborns, and then her 6-month photos, and now their family pictures a year later! she turns 2 soon and i can't believe its been that long. i am obsessed with how their photos turned out. can i do all the families at home, please?

MI CASA ES SU CASA

it has been awhile that i've wanted to do another "day in the life of" with my boys. basically how i would capture them if they were my clients (which, if anything, they'd probably pay me NOT to photograph them, lol) but i wanted things shot just as they are around our little house, our little family. minus their parents and plus their cousin (who makes a cameo in a few shots). let me know what you think!

TAYLORS // AT HOME

photographing a fellow photographer whose work you greatly respect is always nerve-wracking. but when hannah asked me to take her family's photos in her home i was ecstatic. they have the cutest little family in the cutest little house. i had an amazing time following them around their house for a few hours. i told them what to do in a few shots, but most are just a candid look at their everyday. but you wanna know a secret? what makes these photos special is not their cute house and their nice clothes and their general attractiveness. i mean, that helps. but what speaks to me the most, and what i hope is conveyed in the images, is so much more than all of that stuff. it is the way a mother looks at her son. the way her son looks at the tv (ha!). the bodies in the home in which they live. all of the little moments and quirks that make up their lives. the way sweet little maddox hands his momma his sippy cup. how he stands around in his diaper. the way his dad smiles at his mom. THAT is what gets me excited to shoot. THAT is what i care about. and THAT is what i am excited to share with you today. i hope you enjoy.

TRAVIS + BRENDA // WEDDING

i really enjoy photographing weddings, and usually do so as the sole photographer hired for the event. so i cover the candid shots, the formal portraits, and everything in between. for this wedding i was hired to only produce documentary shots for the couple. i didn't have to worry about any posing or group shots, or even borrowing the bride's shoes to set up a detail shot. i tried to remain completely invisible and only photograph things as they were.

travis and brenda gave me complete creative freedom to do whatever i wanted. it was the best job i could have been asked to do. being highly successful photographers themselves, they had a few photographers running around their wedding focusing on different things (from medium format film photography to large format film portraits, to video) so i'm pretty sure it was one of the best documented weddings on record. it was an honor to be a part of it and i think the images perfectly reflect what i saw and felt on that day. i hope you can see it and feel it, too.

THEO // BIRTH STORY

I get so excited for every birth story I cover. The birth of little baby Theo was no exception! It has taken me MONTHS to get around to finally blogging some images from it, but here they are! These were taken just days before Christmas and it was a crazy, snowy day. This was also the first birth I have covered that the mother was unmedicated, and it was a really cool experience. So blessed I got to be there! And I'm not one to throw around exclamation points, but my obsession with birth stories warrants their use. Births are the best.
