there is always just a laid-back, casual feel to backyard weddings that make them so rewarding to photograph. these truly are weddings that aren’t about the florals, or the decorations, or any other perfectly prepared details. these are weddings that really place a premium on what is actually taking place, and the people are what really matter.
CAROLYN // BOHO CHIC BRIDALS
I shot these bridal photos earlier this summer with this gorgeous bride-to-be at Antelope Island State Park, which is a quick drive from Salt Lake City. Carolyn was in the middle of planning a beautiful destination wedding in Southeastern Utah, and her whole aesthetic for this shoot mirrored her vision for her wedding so perfectly.
AMANDA + MATT // PARK CITY UTAH DESTINATION WEDDING
I don't even know where to start with this wedding. Amanda found my work on Instagram and the next thing I knew I got a call from her wonderful wedding planner and the plans for her New Years Eve wedding got rolling. Amanda is one of those people that you fall in love with right away, because she is the warmest, most sincere person you'll ever meet. I was lucky to spend almost my entire New Years Eve with her, Matt, and their family and friends. I'm pretty sure there wasn't a dry eye in that room when during their vows, Mandy expressed how even when the world literally blows up between them, she will still run to him. Mandy was running in the Boston Marathon during the time of the bombing. It happened at a point she hadn't yet reached, and Matt was on the other side of it. I can't imagine the terror they each experienced that day, but it is quite evident how strong they are because of it. And Mandy is a cancer survivor, in case you weren't already in awe of her grace and strength.
On a lighter note, Matt is from Buffalo, NY and the Buffalo Bills played in a game on this day that resulted in them going to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years! So you can imagine the elation ringing out from the walls at Blue Sky Ranch.
In a review she wrote for me, Mandy said that her only regret was that I couldn't be there as a guest. I know! She's amazing. And so was this day.

SHANNON + STEVE // ALTA PERUVIAN LODGE WEDDING
This wedding was PERFECT and I can't believe I haven't blogged it until now. It was just a joyous September day filled with smiles, tears, and lots and lots of Fisher beer. I definitely wiped away my fair share of tears during the toasts (but pretty much everyone was crying so you can't blame me). The ceremony was funny and tender, and the dancing was insane. I loved the rustic and charming lodge details, the stunning views, but mostly it was just nice to spend the day with such loving and awesome people. Definitely one of my favorite weddings to date. ENJOY!
